TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP ASSESSMENT AND ANALYSIS

Total Cost of Ownership, or TCO, represents a method for determining the actual costs of the IT infrastructure (Assessment services evaluate the six key domains: management, network, applications, system hardware, system software, and physical environment) and associated staffing and facilities. In order for customers to be effective in improving their ability to meet their business goals, they must contain their costs and improve the utilization of their computing infrastructures.

This can best be accomplished through consolidations. In order for a consolidation to successfully meet its targets, the cost metrics utilized by the organization must be understood and respected. IT goals must be aligned with the business goals.

Over time, however, a divergence between IT and business goals may occur. The associated costs are then more difficult to quantify and manage. The TCO process represents the most effective method of determining the costs, analyzing the sources of the costs, and understanding the effect of changes in the infrastructure on projected costs.

A TCO analysis enables customers to justify the expenditures associated with system consolidation projects and assists them in setting the targets and goals that must be met by the consolidation.

Therefore, wherever possible, a TCO analysis can play a crucial role in the Systems Consolidation assessment.

Intelligent Technology Solutions Consulting will perform these TCO assessments. We have highly experienced consultants who work together the customer to provide a professional and complete TCO analysis, which is immediately useful in that customer's decision process. This assessment takes into account all facets of the environment, including hardware and software platforms, network, facilities, contracts and staffing. The necessary information is collected by means of interviews, client documents, and systems information originating from the available management.

The information is input into the WCG TCO e-Valuator Database, which is the only tool on the market designed to calculate the real TCO of the datacenter, or components thereof, as well as providing comparative scenarios facilitating the cost justification of capital expenditure for the consolidation initiative.

The e-Valuator Database will also serve as an Asset Database for the customer from which environment matrices can be extracted in order to provide enhanced change and risk management. Once the e-Valuator Database has been populated with all the required information, the built-in reporting functions will give quantitative information by which to clearly identify current systems configuration risks or concerns, as well as consolidation opportunities.

Together with the customer the consulting team will use these reports to identify - the opportunities and risks of the consolidation initiative - the benefits to be derived.

This provides key input into the next stage of the consolidation process - a short to medium term architectural vision.
